More Fruit, More Color
"Plum Half" oil on canvas 6" x 6"
"Peach Half" oil on canvas 6" x 6"
Here's my two newest fruit paintings. I am really enjoying playing around with the different colored backgrounds. I'm not sure what else to say... so, I'm off to paint some more...
I am an Arkansan, living in the foothills of the Ozarks. My educational background was in mathematics and computer programming, so I guess whatever is in my DNA that made me pursue those fields in college has led me to realism as an artist. It all started out innocently enough – looking for a little “me” time from my life as wife, mother, and programmer, I signed up for a six-week drawing class. What I had intended to just be a hobby pulled me irresistibly onward… I fell in love with drawing and worked exclusively in graphite for years while raising our four children. The sudden onset of cataracts in my early forties and subsequent surgery to “fix” my eyes gave me a new found appreciation for all of the color that fills this world. I began exploring color in my art, first with colored pencil, and now with oils.
